Die 8. Vorpostenflottille wurde im September 1939 mob.-mäßig mit 8 Fischdampfern aufgestellt. Die Flottille wurde zum Vorpostendienst in der Nordsee eingesetzt. Nach dem Westfeldzug zum Geleitdienst Elbe/Rotterdam eingesetzt. Sie unterstand dabei dem Führer der Vorpostenboote Nord. Stützpunkte der Flottille waren Cuxhaven und Bremerhaven.

Operationen

1939 - 1940: Nordsee.
1940 - 1945: Geleitdienst Elbe-Rotterdam. Stützpunkte waren Cuxhaven und Wesermünde.
